  • New T-Mobile MDA combines varied functions of mobile voice and data communication
  • Samsung SGH-S100 enables the downloading of color Java games
  • T-Mobile provides business customers with a mobile e-mail system with the BlackBerry Wireless Handheld

State-of-the-art mobile communications technologies, such as GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) and standards like Java, are the basis of innovative multimedia applications. T-Mobile offers its customers a wide range of terminals which enable a wide range of functions, such as WAP access via GPRS or the downloading of Java games.

At CeBIT 2002, T-Mobile is presenting highlights such as the T-Mobile MDA (Mobile Digital Assistant), with which users can surf the Web when on the move, as well as the Triband Samsung SGH-S100 mobile with its top-quality color display and the Java-enabled Siemens MT50. Businessmen on the move can retrieve their corporate e-mails directly with the BlackBerry system.

With the Mobile Digital Assistant (MDA), T-Mobile is presenting one of the first devices to combine the functions of a mobile phone with those of a pocket computer and GPRS technology in one housing with a large color display. The GPRS technology makes it possible to access web sites, e-mails and WAP contents directly with the T-Mobile MDA. In the future, users will even be able to play video sequences on the MDA.

When used as a computer, the T-Mobile MDA makes it possible, for example, for the user to process pocket Word and pocket Excel files. Data can be compared with the workstation PC using an infrared interface. And the T-Mobile MDA can be used as a telephone thanks to the in-built loud speaker and integrated microphone as with a mobile; if you use a headset when making a call, you can even make electronic notes on the MDA display during your mobile conversation.

The T-Mobile MDA will also include the very first GPRS navigation solution in the world. The dynamic off-board navigation system " Tegaron Scout" produced by Tegaron Telematics GmbH, computes routes on a central server taking all the latest traffic information into consideration at the same time.

The main display of the Samsung SGH-S100 ensures perfect display of logos, graphics and pictures with more than 65,000 colors. A second display on the outside of the lid shows the time, date and incoming calls. Thanks to the integrated Java platform, users can also download color games with graphics and animation in brand new quality via the WAP portal of T-Mobile Online.

The GPRS technology speeds up access to WAP contents and thus facilitates fast downloads. It is an acoustically fun device too with a range of multi-tone rings. The Triband technology also means the Samsung
SGH-S100 is a useful companion on holiday or on business trips.

You can also use the GPRS-enabled Siemens MT50 with its attractive blue display to download exciting games based on Java standards onto your mobile via the download section of the T-Mobile Online WAP portal. Sending logos and melody rings — that are either already available or that you have created yourself — to your friends or business partners provides a little light-hearted amusement in communication.
The new BlackBerry solution of the T-Mobile business section, Mobile Business Solutions, makes it possible for employees working in the field to have quick, convenient and secure access to their corporate e-mails. Incoming messages are automatically forwarded in encrypted form to the BlackBerry Wireless Handheld.
