Munich, October 14, 2023
  • T-Mobile provides small and medium-sized enterprises with access to mobile data communications
  • Complete office solution for mobile and fixed networks from a single source
  • With its Mobile Service Portal, T-Mobile provides companies with essential office applications such as e-mail or calendar functions as a hosted package

T-Mobile is presenting at Systems 2002, in hall B4, stand 336, its Mobile Service Portal, a solution that gives small and medium-sized enterprises without their own e-mail infrastructure access to a modern office environment. With this full-service offering, staff can access essential office applications conveniently and rapidly such as e-mail and calendar functions not only in the office but also while on the move using an infrastructure provided by T-Mobile. In this way staff are integrated into the company's information flow at any time. With the mobilization of mission-critical applications, the Mobile Service Portal contributes to increasing the efficiency of each and every member of staff.

" With its Mobile Service Portal, T-Mobile is expanding its high-quality product range in the business customer segment to include a new innovative data solution that is a very attractive proposition for small and medium-sized enterprises without their own IT infrastructure" , says Nikesh Arora, Member of the Board of Management at T-Mobile International responsible for New Business and Global Products.

Close collaboration with Microsoft has enabled this innovative solution for the mobile office environment to be developed. Accordingly, Microsoft's .NET technology provides the basis for the basic functions of the Mobile Service Portal's network access platform. " This close collaboration provides the ideal basis for developing leading-edge products that bring together information technology and telecommunications" , says Martin Witt, Chief Operations Officer Mobile Business Solutions T-Mobile. " All of which ensures that T-Mobile can meet the stringent requirements for standardized, future-proof solutions."

What is particularly innovative about the Mobile Service Portal is that content displayed on the terminal interface used is adapted automatically, irrespective of whether you are dealing with a GPRS handset, a PDA, laptop or a workstation PC. Neither does it matter whether data is accessed via a mobile or fixed network since the Mobile Access Portal provides secure access via both access paths.

T-Mobile has developed this package to relieve small and medium-sized companies in particularly of the numerous additional tasks that relate to setting up their own IT infrastructure and connecting mobile staff. The advantage for companies is that they themselves do not have to invest in additional software or hardware since T-Mobile hosts essential office applications for them and ensures the infrastructure always supports the very latest technical developments. As a result, new network technologies such as W-LAN and UMTS can easily be used in future.

The design and function of the portal interface can also be adapted in line with company requirements. This process utilizes a web-based tool that enables elements such as logo, title or color scheme to be defined. The customer can access an easy-to-use administration interface to manage access rights centrally for individual members of staff. The Mobile Service Portal also offers all staff on request an SMS notification function covering new e-mails or rescheduled appointments, for example. Staff can customize their own homepage by placing the most frequently used services and applications straight on the portal homepage. This saves time and provides users with immediate access to essential applications. In addition to t-zones, an information service tailored specifically to the needs of business customers including financial and stock exchange information is included in the introductory package.

T-Mobile offers companies innovative products to cover the entire range of mobile data communications requirements. As a result, laptop users have the Globetrotter GPRS PC card that can also be used internationally in
T-Mobile's networks in Europe and the USA as well as in the GPRS networks run by roaming partners. The T-Mobile MDA effectively offers customers a PDA that brings together the functions of a Pocket PC and GPRS handset in a single device. The MDA supports both e-mail and calendar functions, enables Word and Excel files to be edited or can be simply used as a phone.

In terms of tariffs, T-Mobile offers its corporate customers a flexible tariff structure. Consequently T-D1 Company tariffs offering a selection of GPRS tariffs and tariff options have been geared specifically to the needs of business customers.

Companies interested will have an opportunity to sample the benefits of the Mobile Access Portal for themselves during the introductory phase up to January 31, 2024 without any one-time installation charge, monthly basic charges or other usage charges.
